Motorola's New WLAN Security Product Simulates Hacks

 

Motorola announced a product that helps enterprises secure their WiFi networks by allowing them to simulate WLAN attacks from a hacker's view. The AirDefense Wireless Vulnerability Assessment product uses the radio of the wireless sensors to create attacks and simulate how far a hacker could penetrate an enterprise network.

Storage Roundup: Quantum optimizes data deduplication device for NAS, OpenStorage

This week's storage news:

Quantum Corp. launched a version of its DXi7500 data deduplication system optimized for network-attached storage and Symantec Corp. OpenStorage interfaces.

The DXi7500-N includes six Gigabit Ethernet and two Fibre Channel ports, and bundled NAS as a standard feature. The DXi7500 Quantum has sold since early 2008 has been mostly deployed as a FC-based virtual tape library, but the new configuration is aimed at customers who want to use deduplicated backup in larger OpenStorage environments where Ethernet is required. Quantum also added application-aware path-to-tape support for Oracle Secure Backup and Atempo Time Navigator, as well as Shadow Tape Creation support for Symantec Backup Exec, CA Arcserve and BakBone NetVault.
